Alleviate
It's a beautiful verb. There is something magical about it.
It means "make something bad such as pain, suffering, deficiency or problems less severe".
For example,
a. The medicine did not alleviate the pain.
b. The President took several measures to alleviate unemployment.
c. The new rule is not alleviating the problem. In fact, it's making matters worse.
d. Uninstall the software. See if it alleviates the problem.
